These painted garbage trucks were "rolled out" (pun intended) for last year's Earth Day celebration in Philadelphia. The back story is fascinating and touches upon Philadelphia's role as a leader in the textile industry in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Even now Philadelphia is no stranger to pushing the boundaries with decorative arts. The Fabric Workshop and Museum there has been fostering creative partnerships with its immediate community and the international art world to celebrate the potential of textiles since the 1970s.

Thinking about why these textile treatments get us so excited had us rooting back through our beloved collection of World of Interiors, recalling some other inventive textile treatments we've dog eared over the years.
