Keep Calm and Carry On

In lieu of a sinful paper trifle we aim to acknowledge Valentinus with this virtual greeting. Like tomorrow's namesake saint we hope to be in the business of converting, albeit to a different cause.

When faced with the beckoning sights of fancy cards, paper hearts, giant novelty chocolate boxes-keep walking. Cook a home-made meal with farmers market finds, give a massage or plan time to take a stroll together with your sweetie.

A little history of Feb 14...
A Roman priest martyred during the reign of Claudius II, St Valentine was arrested and imprisoned upon being caught marrying Christian couples and otherwise aiding Christians who were at the time being persecuted by Claudius in Rome. Claudius took a liking to this prisoner -- until Valentinus tried to convert the Emperor -- whereupon this priest was condemned to death. He was beaten with clubs and stoned; when that didn't finish him, he was beheaded outside the Flaminian Gate.

So very romantic.

Yours Truly,
